Erin Chester-Harvey
RN, BSN, MSN-Ed., Certified Doula

Who is the Allied Doula?

Erin has been an outspoken advocate for health equity for most of her life, and has been pursuing professional avenues that give her the best foundation from which to do it. As an adoptive mother of children from the California foster system, she is acutely familiar with the unique challenges faced by foster and adoptive parents.

A survivor of endometriosis and pro-choice, Erin approaches each parent’s lived experience with radical empathy and wants to support you into your next chapter. Very passionate about evidence-based practice, Erin will surely bring you a bevy of supportive resources but embrace what you are drawn to.

An avid crafter, when not at amusement parks or arcades with her kids and husband, you’ll find Erin deep in clay, thread, and watercolors.

Why Choose the Allied Doula?

Committed to Being a Full-Spectrum Doula and Parent

Erin has been a long-time advocate for equity in healthcare and the community, and feels strongly that a primary place to implement this is with pregnant persons. Empowering people during a period of peak vulnerability can change the long-term health outcomes they and their children experience.

Abilities and Adaptability

Utilizing clear communication techniques, Erin is committed to bridging the gap between birthing families and their care providers to improve birth outcomes in the dyad and emerging family. There aren’t any biases or beliefs here that one type of birth is superior to another; those seeking unmedicated births, excited about medical pain relief options such as nitrous oxide or an epidural, families needing to induce labor, or those planning for cesarean births.

By focusing on building confidence and trust within the birth team, Erin doesn’t aim for a specific kind of birth, but one in which clients feel heard, respected, and supported in their next chapter. As an experienced birthing attendant and RN, Erin is able to refocus the energies in a room to center around the birthing person's values and wishes above all else.
